The two saints beside the stairs leading into the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Church are Saint Anthony Mary Claret and Saint Jude Thaddeus. St. Anthony Claret is the founder of the Congregation of the Missionary Sons of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, which runs this parish in Quezon City. St. Jude is the patron saint of desperate cases and lost causes, which makes him a very popular saint in the Philippines.
Nice shot, Hilda. I think St.Jude is popular here in the States too.
ReplyDeleteSt. Jude must be popular in a lot of places! I just heard that here in the U.S., one in every six people does not get enough food to eat! Can you imagine that?
ReplyDeleteThis is another beautiful photo, Hilda...so nicely composed with great lighting and it's sharp as a tack!
Maybe those saints can help people stay on a straight and narrow path, even if the steps aren't straight! Can we walk up the stairs and into the sanctuary ....
ReplyDeleteTo walk between them and to gain hight must be an impressive feeling.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful first advent Sunday for you.
I'm slightly more familiar with Saint Jude and the wonderful work that has been done in his name. Wonderful statue Hilda.
ReplyDeleteI keep thinking about your closing sentence.
ReplyDeleteWell then, may both these saints be wonderworkers.
Dear Hilda, it's a beautiful capture. These two saints look like some guardian in this star, maybe waiting for us to guide us up!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!

We are probably even beyond Saint Jude here, this is the first time I see a statue of him.
ReplyDeleteWill pray to St Jude then, hoping to be able to stop smoking one day. My desperate case.
ReplyDeleteIn the west we take desperation and lost causes so lightly I think. Good on him for looking after them all I reckon!
ReplyDeleteIs the statue copper cast or some sort of covering over stone?

Good to hear from you recently. The east and the west merge in religion, I've noticed St Jude in the past and I had imagined Jude was female!
ReplyDeleteSt. Jude has always come through for me. That's why I wait until absolutely ncessary to call on his help.
