Standing beside the
Filipino-Korean Soldier Monument at the
Rizal Park is another sculpture created by Filipino artist
Juan Sajid Imao. It is titled "Soul Waves" and the plaque in front of it reads in part:
The sculptural waves symbolize Korea and the Philippines' sacred shores which we protected against all forms of oppression. For indeed, our common sacred shore is our love for freedom.
Both sculptures were installed during the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and the
Republic of Korea on September 6, 2010.
I really like this sculpture. It's very beautiful.

ReplyDeleteI like this one. So much public art leaves something to be desired. Yes, it is not particularly challenging, but then again, in it's favor, it's not particularly challenging.

What a dazzling, bright sculpture! Nice to catch up on your blog this morning!
ReplyDeleteYesterday's "Orchidarium" reminds me of an Orchid Park we visited in Singapore several years ago.
It's worth enlarging to get the effect of the horizontal markings.

I like this piece, the waves, although I have niggling doubts about the "love" between Pinoys and Korean immigrants these days...
