~Doug Dillon, American author
Machuca Tile Inc. has been making Mediterranean-patterned cement tiles, called baldozas mosaicos, since the American colonial period in the early 1900s. The company founded by Don Jose Machuca y Romeo was a pioneer in the industry, and patterned tiles—no matter the manufacturer—are generically called "machuca tiles" by ManileƱos. This is the wall outside their showroom in the district of San Miguel in the City of Manila.
This is something that isn't often seen seen around here. Sadly.
