Amusing
This is the front of the funny-looking building I posted yesterday. It's the entrance of the Aliw Theater, and I'm sure you all see the letters. Aliw is a Tagalog word which means entertainment, amusement. Most of the performances staged here are popular concerts, although it is also the main performance venue of Ballet Manila. I still say the building looks strange and gaudy. Okay, only on the outside, but still…

you have one of the most incredibly interesting buildings i have seen in a city in a long time. that spiky skyline coupled with the flamboyant colours of ALIW must really brighten up the city.
these photos remind me of another weird and wonderful building which i saw once in vienna when i was touring was the hundertwasser haus (http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/p/m/1e13e0/)

This is a strange building,you are right. However, I do see the letters you mentioned. Very colorful indeed.
I think I'd agree with your assesment of the outsdie of the building. But I'd like to see some of the entertainment inside.
To me, it looks just typically artsy. It's probably more the bright colors that surprise people.
When was is constructed? I've never seen it there before...=) funny nga hehe....parang rocket ship! lol.

They are huge letters! It makes the entrance very dramatic - and easy to see!
Glad I've found another Doctor Who fan in the CDPB family. It's a must see programme for me although I do have to wait a whole week for the next episode, at least you can see them in one go on dvd!
think I like the wider angle shot better. okay, now you sneak in and get some undercover shots of the ballet in action!
Seeing only the entrance its kind of strange, but I can see from yesterday's post the it comes well together.
With colors that bright it must cheer up the people who pass by everyday.,
hehehe i'm sorry that i have to agree with your assessment hilda. aliw evokes a different connotation to me, plus the colors? I'm still willing to go inside and check the interior of the building hehehe

Hi Hilda! That is an interesting building. It reminds me of my trip last year to Boston and more specifically, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) university. They have some really unusual building designs. almost breaks conventional wisdom as to how they stand in the face of gravity!
An amazing lettering job. I wonder how long it took them to figure this out? It is really nice to see things like this, Hilda.
I hasten to add that it took me some time to see the letters even after you told us what they were.
y gosh it's enourmous and so in your face in colour. I imagine this would be a great meating place for dtangers. You couldn't exactly miss it.
I think this looks so cool! I was shocked when I saw how small the people were!
