Climbing the wall

Last week, the Loyola Mountaineers, a student organization of mountain-climbing enthusiasts, had a rock-climbing wall set up in a lawn near the building where I work. With summer break only a few weeks away, I think they were promoting their summer climbs. The wall was courtesy of Tribu Outdoors, a company which specializes in outdoor and adventure gear. And before you ask, no, I did not try the wall. I couldn't risk torn slacks and I doubt I would have managed it in high-heeled pumps anyway.

  2. My husband taught me to climb when we were first dating. I love rock climbing walls! You simply must go back with some proper shoes and give it a go, Hilda. It's kind of addictive, actually.

We took a cruise down Baja in Mexico about 5 years ago and the ship had a rock climbing wall on the deck. (I was too scared to try that one, though.)

    Great capture!

  3. You're right Hilda, not a good idea with high heels. We have a lot of climbing walls here. In stead of mountains I guess.

  4. Very energetic.

I went climbing on one of these walls once. I was struggling to get up and I don't like heights. After about half an hour my legs started to go wobbly and I shouted to my friends I was coming down. I turned to look how high up I was and I was about a metre of off the ground! Lol!

  5. This looks like fun. The closest I've done was the canopy tour in the jungles of northern Argentina and I loved it! The true bird's view :-)

  9. That's a nice climbing wall! Rock climbing is big here in the summer. We have a wall inside the high school to use during the winter months.

  10. Heels and slacks would have been the least of my worries. No upper body strength and a paralyzing fear of heights would have kept me off the wall. Neat scene.

  12. If you do attempt this in heels make sure someone takes a photo. This we'd love to see.

  13. yihaa! one thing everyone should try. youll be carrying your weight with this activity. so loosening up some weights will definitely help before doing it.

  14. I've seen a couple of these walls, and although I will rock-hop to get pictures of waterfalls, I'm not sure I would climb one of those walls.
