White house
Privacy walls are almost a necessity in Metro Manila, and more and more people try to make the walls look like an integral part of their home rather than just something to keep strangers out. I like how the owner of this house extended the privacy wall to accommodate those extra large doors then created a covered path to the front door of the house.
Surrounding houses with walls can make the street scenes cold and uninviting, but I agree with you that this house has dressed up the entrance to add visual appeal both for the passersby and for the guests.
ReplyDeleteI have just caught up with your posts for the last couple of weeks because I was traveling in Morocco, so I apologize for this late comment about your series on Corregidor. it was outstanding and a real service to educate your readers.
Ny father was a career U.S. Navy officer who served in the South Pacific during World War II. We lived in Hawaii when he was stationed at a Navy base there, and he would visit the Philippines in his duties at that time. The information in your posts and the photos showing what Corregidor looks like today were fascinating.
I agree. This is very attractive. Why are such walls "almost a necessity?" Is it for privacy, robbers or both?

I like the design of the house. Looks like it was designed by an architect and not just a builder.

I agree that the owner of this house did a good job of integrating the wall with the house design. We're not allowed to have fences or walls where we live. Sometimes I think they would be nice.

This is very nice. I like the screen. It is nice and at first it reminded me of a garage door.
ReplyDeleteMany years ago, when I was in Arizona, the yards and homes were all screened from the public by adobe walls or dense thorn hedges.
Probably no architecture prize in sight, but it is not bad at all. It looks quite well planned with the plants and the trees all around.

ReplyDeletewe have a neighbor whose house was pure white too. we call it the white house eversince we were kids! but they recently repainted their house to brownish. we wanted to protest. hehe..but we still call it the white house.

I love the architecture also. The large window, the angled roof line. With the entryway it really does detract from the wall.

Every house has its wall here, not so much for the roberies as you can easily jump it in most cases, but just for the privacy matter.
