Gantry cranes

Mid-morning on a clear day, one can look out towards Manila Bay from the CCP Bay Terminal (where the ferry for Corregidor Island docks) and see the big cranes of the North Harbor. The breakwater shelters the Manila Yacht Club.

  5. I like the look of gantry cranes in a harbor like this. They give it a sense of activity and a bustling working harbor.

  10. Very nice picture. I remember being floored when I found out how much money the crane operator made who loaded my navy ship.

  11. This may sound crazy, but most photos I've seen of this area have come from WWII...so it is very nice to look at your beautiful photograph and see what was once a terrible battleground now at peace...

    Thanks!

  13. Such an interesting angle. One could easily mistake that for Hong Kong or Singapore.

  17. I have a thing about cranes. Industrial skylines are so dramatic something about nature meeting manmade that is so captivating.

  19. I love the wispy clouds above the working waterfront. We have big cranes like that too here in Seattle, I saw them awash in bright orange sunset colors yesterday after I took my Skywatch photo. Hope you had a good Friday!

No, that would be farther south — near Mall of Asia, which I haven't been to yet! :D
