Posh mall

THEME DAY: NIGHT • Considering the fact that Metro Manila has a large number of malls, I guess it was inevitable that I would show one for a City Daily Photo theme day. Greenbelt 5 is located at the Ayala Commercial Center in Makati City. I haven't explored it yet but I hear that most of its shops are those of international luxury brands and top Filipino artists and designers. Much too upscale for me. But I also hear that many of its restaurants are fantastic so we just might go there one of these days anyway.

Greenbelt 5

I think it's more correct to describe this as an evening shot since the sky is still light even though the sun had set. But evening or night, I think we're going to see a lot of great photos from City Daily Photo bloggers around the world. Click here to view thumbnails for all participants.

  6. Evening or not, I like the image, the light and the mall itself. Pity if too upscale, but the facade is beautiful.

  7. Just a beautiful shot, Hilda. And I certainly think you ought to go...check it out; maybe it's not as upscale as people have said...and when the upscale shops have sales - well, go get 'em!

  14. Nice night sky or twilight. I like the golden glow of that building.

It is a cool, 63 degrees here at 6:00 AM in Ohio on this August 1st, 2009. Not bad. I slept under a blanket last night. We set the coldest July ever recorded last month. I hope you get some relief this month.

Nous avons une "ceinture verte" également au sud d'Avignon.

    The green belt ?
We have a "green belt" also on the south of Avignon.

  18. The light is very inviting.

Thank you for your comment about my total solar eclipse photo today. I am sorry that the clouds obscured your view in the Philippines. That was an advantage to being on a ship for the eclipse, as we moved to escape the clouds.

Incidentally, many of the crew members on the ship to reach the remote eclipse site were from the Philippines and were such delightful and warm people that they made two weeks on a ship pass very quickly.

  19. I think I would just do window-shopping at that mall.

  20. Hi Hilda, the lighting is great even better when enlarged .. in the past we would go to malls just for the pleasure of window shopping .. the more upscale the more fun the fantasy was .. we have moved past that stage in our life and rarely go to a mall .. it has been years .. soon (maybe another 10 or 15 years) and we will reach the age where we join other elderly people walk the malls for our health (smile).

  21. The sun has set, that is officially a night shot. I looked it up in the dictionary. Though I am really jealous of anyone who has palm trees in their photos. The photo and the location is suburb.

  26. Who is to say where evening ends and night begins? What we can say is that this is a very evocative shot especially with that nicely angled roofline. I am not a posh shop person either. I can hardly wait to get out of them!!

  27. Wonderful choice! I like the looks of the building with all the glass.

It's funny how you can live in a city and never have seen some things like a shopping center! I hope you'll get over there one day. If not for the shopping at least for the pictures. :)

  29. I just realized that I missed the Aug's Theme Day!! Now I am catching up on checking out the other's posting! One of them is yours, Hilda!

This is a fabulous photo of Greenbelt. I was told that it is one of the best shopping mall in Manila. Unfortunately, I wasn't into shopping when I visited Manila. So, I missed out on it. Probably I should check it out on my next Manila trip!
