ABS-CBN is one of the largest radio and television broadcast and entertainment networks in the Philippines. It owns The Filipino Channel, an international broadcasting service whose two million subscribers are mostly overseas Filipino workers and their families. Its head office is located in Quezon City and the ELJ Center, one of the buildings in its huge compound, houses the executive offices and a few cafés on the ground floor. It also has a very good restaurant on the 14th floor named 9501 and I took this picture from the roof deck just off the restaurant. And if you're wondering about my title, "Kapamilya" is the network's slogan and it means "a member of the family."

Thanks for introducing us to your family member -:)))
It sounds as if the network does a good job of keeping up with its far-flung family.
Living about 3,ooo miles away from home,it is indeed, the sound of the radio which helps to bare - much more than a tv could ever do.
Please have a nice start into the new week.
Thanks for sharing some insight into "my family" - the news media world!
We appreciate the way you bring us information like this about the Philippines that we might not otherwise know. There are many Filipinos in the Bay Area - «Lous» imagines most of them are linked into this network in one way or another.
It seems you take a lot of photos from inside or outside of restaurants. Methinks you are something of a gourmet...or maybe you write a food column for the local paper? ;-)
We have a CBN here, too. It's the Christian Broadcasting Network run the nutcase, Pat Robertson.
Home to famous Wowowee ... Hi Hilds..
Proud to be Kapamilya...may TFC kami dito hehehe.
Gandang araw po,napadaan muna bago matulog ..galing sa night duty.
I think I watched a game show on that channel once. It was really fun. They spoke about 3/4 Tagalog and 1/4 English. Then again I think the network was called Saxy-tv or something like that.
Great post Hilda. One question though. You mentioned the word "subscriber". I take it this is not a free broadcast?
un bon slogan publicitaire pour cette chaine de télévision ;o))
i so love this blog i got an award for you here!

Wonderful angle, hilda! Was there a nice view?
You are dining near at TV station? Did you get to meet any celebrities there?
Many years ago, when I worked in the port of Livorno, a Filipino crew was stuck here when their ship, the Dona Amalia, crashed against the pier while mooring.
Some had their relatives flown here and this is how I learned my first Filipino word: kapamilya.
Very interesting and thanks for teaching us about Kapamilya! :)
Léia

Wow Hilda! This is one of my favorite things in my life! I'm a Certified KAPAMILYA!!! Love it!
Steven^^

how was the view?
hope you could post it sometime.
haha,i'm more of kapamilya than kapuso! ^0^
Don't have TFC, methinks that they're making so much money out of it and maybe am just some kind of an anti. LOL.
I like their slogan!
I love the light and shadows you captured in this beautiful perspective.
Don:
Many of ABS-CBN's channels are on free TV, but not the international TFC, which you have to pay for.
TV industry is really creating masterpieces with a creative trend. How can we forget to talk about international television like the Philippines? Pinoy TV usually makes dramas and TV series like this one which is a huge success
