Sometimes, I walk out of our house and see this sunny yellow Volkswagen Beetle parked near our pedestrian gate. It probably belongs to a friend or relative of our neighbor because I don't see it everyday. It looks quite well maintained though I've noticed a few rusty spots in its trim, especially on its 'eyelids.' It's such a bright and cheerful spot of color on our black asphalt street that it never fails to bring a smile to my face.
I can see why. there is something so whimsical about these VW's.
ReplyDeleteBring back Herbie, though I was more Mini than Beetle! Just had a look through some of your recent transportation posts and enjoyed some very nice vehicles. Thanks again for popping in to York.
ReplyDeleteHola,
ReplyDeleteCreo que ese escarabajo te saluda y te dice buenos dias, como el de la película de Disney.¡¡¡¡
Just like a toy car. Great color.
ReplyDeleteWhat a classic car!
ReplyDeleteSeems to be in mint condition to me. I love the ones with 'eyelids'. Nicely and brightly spotted.
ReplyDeleteI think you should sneak up and give the mellow yellow guy a hug!
ReplyDeleteWonderful photography of a nice car, even though there are said to be more than 3mio of them over here, like to see this one.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful Friday for you all.
I had a green one just like this! Loved it. Not good in cold climates, though, as it had no heat. And with two kids it was too small so we traded it off...
ReplyDeleteI'd guess this is from the 60s and yes, it looks very well cared for. They are sure fun to drive!
«Louis» thinks this is a '73 VW "Super Beetle".
ReplyDeleteIt looks to be well-maintained, especially for its age!
What a bright way to start the day. Someone has obviously taken very good care of this 'bug'.
ReplyDeleteune voiture culte, j'adore le design de cette vieille "coccinelle"
ReplyDeleteEyelids, that's funny!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sight to see something so yellow. It's like an artificial sun. It would certainly brighten my day.
ReplyDeleteLove the VW Bug, brings back memories of many-a-year-ago we owned a VW van (orange),
ReplyDeletewe loved that thing : )
Your blog is lovely, Manila looks like a beautiful place. Awesome photography!
And thank you for the warm welcome to City Daily Photo.
Darryl and Ruth
I think it would be nice to know the person who chose such a bright, little vehicle to drive.
ReplyDeleteYes, they do :-). Don't they? I also like those bright pink and bright blue colors on these cars. These colors also look nice on another type of car, I don't know their make, but they are squarish.
ReplyDeleteYou have some lovely blogs. And from reading them it seems like you are in the field of education as I am. i have a Filipino friend who is also in the field of education but she doesn't stay at Manila.
I like this sunflower yellow colour.
ReplyDeleteIt looks familiar to me too. Rust used to be a major problem with all cars and then the VWs were one of the last ones to rust. Nowadays, even the news one seldom rust. It must have something to do with the prefinishing they do these days.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I like the last two profile pictures. The one before this was a lot brighter but this one is equally nice to see.
I think yellow is the best color for this kind of vehicle.. It looks stand out in every scenes. eye catching and energetic yet still show it classic taste.. very great capture..
ReplyDeleteI love bugs, especially old ones.
ReplyDeleteShe looks like she's well-taken care of. And that sunny yellow is a nice color.
I love it.
ReplyDeletebtw I like your new photo profile.
Brought a smile to my face too! :)
ReplyDeleteGod bless you!
Cezar
Great color for a great car! Love those beetles and they've been around as long as I can think of.
ReplyDeleteCan you believe that the original design is more than 70 year old...
ReplyDeleteLooks like one of the 60es models, must be 35-45 years old. No wonder it is a bit rusty.
ReplyDeletethis car reminds me of one thing, my father bought one in the province and im not sure if already had it refurbished.
ReplyDeleteAh, what a wonderful Super Beetle! I'm smiling, too!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I've never seen one this color! But it's lovely. I used to have a VW bug like that--bright red.
ReplyDeleteGreat color.
