The Palacio del Gobernador in Intramuros is a 1978 reconstruction of the 17th century Spanish Governor-General's residence and office. The original building collapsed in the devastating June 3, 1863 Manila earthquake and was abandoned when the Governor-General moved to Malacañang Palace. Currently, the Palacio del Gobernador houses some government offices and is the home of the Intramuros Administration.
Manila, Manila..... hinahanap kita Manila...(singing to the tune of the popular song). Been there once. Thanks for the info and for the links.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day Hilda.
There's something about this building that screams "bureaucracy"! Maybe it's all the small windows - probably too small for people escape through! ;-)
ReplyDeleteOne wonders, though, why so many small windows. Why not fewer, larger windows? I guess if it's a reconstruction it must be faithful to the original.
Wowza! That is a mighty big building! Our old government buildings look something like this too. Small windows and indestructable concrete walls :)
ReplyDeletehaha it seems my post and yours live on the same street! i am particularly in love with intramuros and never fail to walk around this area.
ReplyDeletehi hilds, i wish u n hubby a pleaant trip! ^0^ hmmm, wonder where you off to... ^0^
ReplyDeletemeanwhile, i'll still be checking on your blog. ^-^
take care!
Looks more like a hotel that a palace! They surely didn't copy the design of the Versailles palace!
ReplyDeleteWhat a massive building. I agree with Jacob. This looks like a place where you go to work and they lock you in.
ReplyDeleteWhen I look at this I imagine hundreds of people bent over their desks inside there.
ReplyDeleteIt looks huge! I might get quite lost in there.
ReplyDeleteA palace needs bigger windows. :)
ReplyDeleteHilda, is this a modern interpretation of the 17th century design? It looks too modern to be a 17th century design - unless the building in back is a modern building both in design and age, while the building in the foreground is the reproduction.
ReplyDeleteDoes not look like a happy place
ReplyDeleteIt's massive, an impressive building!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful trip for you and your husband.God bless you
Léia
