The 73rd season of the University Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP) games began last month. Since the Philippines is a basketball-crazy country, many of the basketball games are held in the Araneta Coliseum, to accommodate the large number of fans who watch. One of several restaurants on the periphery of the stadium is Café Bola, with its circular logo and light fixtures.
Talk about thematic: even Café Bola's food is spherical! This is their Seafood Bola with Parmesan Cream & Ham sauce.
superbe design, j'espere que cela n'eclaire pas trop quand meme ;) et puis un beau plat
ReplyDeleteThis is certainly a much nicer eating place for a sports arena than I've seen here.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if they have tv sets tune in to the ballgames, like the bars and dives near sports stadium here.
ReplyDeleteThat is simply yummylooking.
indeed pinoys likely love affair with basketball ... Good Morning.
ReplyDeleteI remember being surprized by the basketball craziness when I went to the Philippines. I'm crazy about basketball too. However I don't go out of my way to eat basketball shaped food. :)
ReplyDeleteBtw those lights are pretty cool!
A all round and beautiful entry of yours. Please have a great start into your Thursday.
ReplyDeleteGreat theme food.
ReplyDeleteDarryl and Ruth : )
It all looks so delicious! Especially love the friendly orange theme to the place. Adds a down to earth quality, as sometimes with clever design there is a coldness... but not here. Great job!:)
ReplyDeleteI love basketball! Didn't know the Philipines were crazy about hoops too. It's a much more exciting game than baseball. :S
ReplyDeleteDoes "bola" mean ball?
ReplyDeleteIt's just like what call it here. Bola = ball.
Hilda a nice theme and well captured, I really like the main photo. Sort of retro is how I would describe it.
ReplyDeleteBet they don't sell any of our not so favourite sweets here :-)
That meal wouldn't be spherical very long if I was around. It looks (and sounds) delicious. I like the lights of this restaurant.
ReplyDeletescrumptious! ^0^
ReplyDeletei hope the game for this
season goes well.
best of luck to all!
Great ceiling (not no mention how delicious the food looks like!)! :-)
ReplyDeleteWell, you've got me running in circles! Looks like a fine place and I'll eat that stuff no matter how it's shaped.
ReplyDeleteWere you there for a basketball game? Didn't realize that sport was so popular in your country.
I didn't realize the Philippines is a basket ball crazed country. I guess so if fans like to eat food shaped likes basketballs. :)
ReplyDeletelove the warm glow and damn it's making me hungry !
ReplyDeleteI didn't know baseball was so popular over there! Love the restaurant, but I'm not so sure how our Parmesan fits in that dish... I'd give it a try!
ReplyDeleteI take it you're rooting for the Blue Eagles? :D And here I am going, "Hail! Hail! Alma Mater, hail to De La Salle."
ReplyDeleteThe weekend is almost here. Are you excited?
Thanks for visiting Norwich Daily Photo and leaving your comment. Come visit again tomorrow!
Eki:
ReplyDeleteYes, bola is Tagalog for ball.
Mike:
You'd be surprised. The owner-chef is very good at updating traditional Filipino dishes. If not here, one of her other restaurants has a gourmet version of suman, a sticky rice roll. She serves it with caramel sauce and ripe mangoes, if I remember right.
Jacob:
No, I wasn't there for a game. I'm in the minority in this case. I don't watch basketball games, live or on TV.
VP:
Parmesan cream sauce = love!
Joy:
But of course! But I'm still not watching. ;)
I wonder what other spheric food is on their menu! :D
