During the opening of the Timog Avenue branch of Buddy's restaurant (see yesterday's post), the owners recreated some parts of the Pahiyas Festival. It was a fun treat seeing higantes (giants)…
and a brass band. Of course, both attracted quite a lot of attention from passersby, including a vendor hoping to sell some balloons to guests with little children.
Those are some giants! That's a restaurant that knows how to have a grand opening.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like fun!
ReplyDeletenice that they include higantes to symbolize fiesta.
ReplyDeleteIn a couple of days will start here las fiestas de la Merce, in honour of Nuestra Senora de la Merce, holy patron of Barcelona. We will see many of those gigantes, gegants in Catalan, parading the streets. And a few fire-spewing dragons as well. Plus about 300 free concerts, fireworks, exhibitions, and so on. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots Hilda, so colourful, looks like fun.
ReplyDeleteThis is nice and fun too, thanks :)
ReplyDeleteLove the higantes and the band! I believe that some Pisans have infiltrated your last picture...
ReplyDeleteVery interesting post. It's fun.

These are neat. Giants. Yes, they are even mentioned in the Bible. They were the offspring of heavenly beings and human beings. Og was one and his coffin was enormous.
ReplyDeleteThis is nice and fun
ReplyDeleteVery fancy giants, though! I'm surprised they didn't just start dancing to the music :D
