The king of sending
The Philippines' answer to UPS and FedEx: LBC. Its international destinations are not quite as extensive but its fees are much cheaper. It also has two services which the other two do not offer, both aimed at our large population of overseas workers. The first is money remittance, which is necessary in this country where most of our people do not have bank accounts. The second is the balikbayan (returning countrymen) box, a box of a specific dimension which is sent from another country to the Philippines and which can be filled with anything and everything non-perishable no matter the weight. It is sent by sea so it can take up to six weeks before it reaches its destination but it's usually the only way to send heavy things back home.

No doubt the overseas workers and their families are very grateful for that service.
Living about 3,000 miles away from home, relate surely on such services, and their fees ...

The USPS has recently started a 'if it fits, it ships' with certain size boxes. You can get the boxes free at the post office and when you ship it, you pay a flat rate. I think it a cool idea.
When it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight?!
Everyone must use that then! Both the weight and size factor in here and although it only takes about a day...the price is pretty high.
Sometimes it just has to be there in a hurry. They do get use out of sticky situations.
i do send some documents through lbc. sometimes that's how low tech i am.

I've only used them locally. For gifts to people overseas I tend to buy on the internet something in their area, or at least country.
the lbc and me are like this = best friends! ^0^
we usually use it around the office, sending this and that.
