Deliciously creepy

Even though we do not celebrate Halloween in the Philippines, it gives a perfect excuse for getting a yummy ice cream cake from Dairy Queen. This particular design is great for creeping out other people too—it turns your teeth and tongue black.

  5. Oh, well, now that IS a surprise to me, Hilda! Not celebrated in the Philippines!?! I don't know about in your part of town, but here in the south I see Halloween all around me! Villages and homes are decorated almost as much as at Christmas; kids have costume contests at school and go out trick-or-treating; parties are thrown; and stores have Halloween sales. How much more can we celebrate? :-D

Goodness, it's getting that big down south already? And to think that it just started because some American kids in Ayala Alabang missed going trick-or-treating. :P

Here in QC, it's still mostly just decor in the stores. Although I just saw yesterday (in a friend's photo album) that Marikina now has a Halloween parade.

I'm fighting its popularity tooth and nail.

  7. [Hilda, I had already responded to your reply, but it did not post. If there's a delayed reaction and it pops up, then please just delete this one.]

I don't know how one can stem the tide of commercialism. In China they understand nothing about Christmas yet in recent years the decorations are starting to come out in December, in stores, in restaurants. I share your disdain, but I'm not so sure it's worth loosing teeth and nails over. ;-)
