Grand pastel

Last year, I was able to post some detail shots of the old Finance Building, which is now the Museum of the Filipino People. Here is the facade in its entirety. The building has since gotten a fresh coat of creamy yellow paint which, according to arts advocate and heritage conservationist John Silva, was its original color. They discovered it by carefully peeling away all the layers of paint that its walls and columns had accumulated over the decades. And no, it's not curved and I don't know why my photos of wide buildings usually end up like this.

Nice, classical feel to this building. Perfect for a museum.

That looks like a beautiful building. It looks curved because your lens adds distortion to photos at certain zoom ranges, it's fairly common at the widest angles of some lenses or cameras.

That's a beautiful color. I am glad they took the time to research the palate. The color can be an important as the architecture.

Arts and architechture outside, it's history inside!

Nakapasok ako isang beses dito, September 2001. Nawalan ng kuryente, nandu'n kami sa fourth floor with the manuggol jar and skull display. Sigawan lahat ng mga tao sa room, nakakatakot! U

surprenante cette couleur, mais cela lui va bien. Pour tes photos, il faudrait les prendre plus grande et apres redresser tes batiments

Like Superman bends steel with his bare hands, Hilda bends buildings with her lens. :)

An impressive facade for a quite solemn building. The curved effect is fairly common with some wide angle lenses.

The original color is beautiful! Love that they discovered it and made the effort to change it back :-D

It looks great with the fresh coat of paint! I like the curvy feel of the shot too.

Very beautiful!

(and comforting to know that the curved effect is so common...)

I love the yellow, but of course the columns are my favorite part of the building!

Wow, this new paint job must be very recent! And I didn't know it was a museum either. :-( I'll have to go check it out one of these days.
