The decorations hanging from the cupola of the
Ateneo Church of the Gesù this Christmas season are called
Neules de Mallorca, a traditional craft from the island of
Mallorca or Majorca in Spain. They are cut-out paper disks with delicate designs which originally were edible wafers made of the same unleavened bread that Roman Catholic
communion wafers are made of.

They are beautiful Hilda, and so are the blue lights. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas! Maligayang Pasko!
Wow, what an idea! Beautiful.
Unique and quite charming. I suppose real wafers would get a bit stale hanging there! :-)
This gives new meaning to the concept of a white Christmas.
Edible decorations? Leave it to the Catholics to combine a sacrament and lunch. hahahaha!
Very nice indeed!
We never skated either...
hee hee... this reminds «Louis» (who is Lutheran) of the joke about some Lutherans who think that the communion wafers are too spicy!
:-)
This is very interesting -- and beautiful.
Lovely! Hope you had a great Christmas, Hilda.
Wow, that is so pretty! Kind of a new year thing... have a great one!
