Inside Fort Santiago in Intramuros is a small museum dedicated to Philippine national hero Jose Rizal, who was imprisoned in the fort just before his execution by the Spanish colonial government. The museum houses some of his memorabilia, including this kit of medical instruments which Rizal used in his profession as a doctor. The thing is, he was an ophthalmologist—I don't think I'd want any of those tools anywhere near my eyes.

Sharp and pointy

Eeuw, you're right, not by the eyes.
But we could use these tools in archaeology. Too bad Jose Rizal did not have time to secretly dig himself out of prison.

It's always fascinating to see old medical equipment, but I have to agree with you about these instruments near my eyes.
Some of the tools look like they were for actually removing eyes... Could be worse, could have been a dentist. I shudder at the thought.
I am going to get nightmares now, those instruments are scary...
Hmmm. I think medicine has come a long way since then!
I agree with you, I don´t want those instruments near me either.
