Today is the Feast Day of
St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the
Society of Jesus. Before his spiritual conversion at the age of 30, Ignatius was a soldier, hence the common depiction of him wearing a coat of mail and breastplate, and carrying a sword. This statue is in the Jesuit-run
Ateneo de Manila Grade School in Quezon City.

belle expression sur cette statue
You have taught me something, and I even went to a Jesuit law school (Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.) and both of my sons went to a Jesuit high school.
I wonder did the REAL St Ignatius always have that look of saintly and pious introspection?!?!
Striking! Thanks for sharing this.
The pose used in this statue is very noble. I think it depicts the moment he became a soldier for Christ.
Looks like a brave, courageous man!
God bless you!
