The mural inside the Heritage Room of the
Ateneo de Manila Grade School shows images from the 150-year history of the school. Based on this, the school has had four seals since it was first established as the Escuela Municipal de Manila in 1859. It also has had two special, double seals. One was to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the school, and the other its 150th—its
sesquicentennial, which filled this blog back in 2009.
I didn't go up to the mural to check what it was made of, but I doubt very much if it was handpainted. Tomorrow, I'll show you the room where I saw the mural.
Hi Hilda, to have a 150-year history is wonderful, and a mural serves both as a reminder and for the students today. I await a view of the room to get a perspective of the mural's size.

This is a pretty complex mural and looks quite majestic. I'm particularly taken by the El Greco sky in the far right panel. Could it be something other than a painting? So glad you thought of us when you visited the mural room. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
ReplyDeleteThe mural looks particularly good against the background of your blog!! But the best thing?? The touches of RED amongst the BLUE!
ReplyDeleteThat looks truly fantastic - PS yes a fireman died tackling the blaze at a hairdressers.
ReplyDeleteGosh so much history all encompassed on one mural, that's pretty special Hilda. It looks like the emblem hasn't changed too much over the years.
ReplyDeleteHard to believe an elementary school is that old! It's a nice mural, but I think it appears to be created from old photographs mostly.
ReplyDeleteThis is very interesting, the story of a school into a mural!
ReplyDeleteAmazing, very long history. Looking forward to tomorrow :).
ReplyDeleteThere is so much detail in these. A mural of old photos seems like a good way to commemorate such an anniversary.
ReplyDeleteMagnificent mural, lots of history and amazing details!
