~Ezra Pound (1885–1972), American poet
Just as its doors surprised me for their lack of religious iconography (see previous two posts), the exterior of the Abbey of Our Lady of Montserrat also surprised me for its lack of a cross. I wouldn't have known this was a church if it weren't for our guide, but its lovely neo-Gothic architecture would have caught my eye nevertheless. I especially love the arched rooftop patio.

It's a visually stunning building, Hilda!
I wouldn't have identified this as a church, but it is a beautiful structure nonetheless.
Wonderful building and cool shot!
Might have to do with the fact that this sanctuary isn't really a parish church, per se. It might actually be more of a "private" chapel for the abbey and the school. I know that there is plethora of religious iconography in the cloisters inside (flanking both sides of the nave) -- at least, that's how I remember it =)
