I breathe it everyday

The view of Metro Manila from Timberland Sports and Nature Club which I posted for the City Daily Photo theme day on Tuesday was just one of several which I took that day. The club's pool is located one level below the dining room and has the same magnificent view. If you enlarge the photo, you can just make out a large body of water in the distance. That is the La Mesa Dam reservoir, which supplies most of the metro's water. The area has also been developed into an ecopark, but I have yet to visit it.

The club is only one part of the mountain development that is Timberland Heights, which offers lots for residences and farm estates. Here we see some of the homes that have already been built and a section of the hill nearer the clubhouse that is still being developed. Unfortunately, the trip to the foothills of the Sierra Madre mountain range made it quite obvious just how polluted Metro Manila's air is. Just look at that pall of thick smog over the metro!

The pollution became even more pronounced when the sun hid behind some clouds. I wish I could say that this was just rain but it didn't start pouring until late in the afternoon and I took this mid-morning.

I don't know why it was so, but by early afternoon the sky over Metro Manila, though still a bit hazy, was much clearer. Like the sun had burned off some of the smog.

Wow, these are great sky watch shots. I am sorry to hear about the pollution though. Thanks for sharing your pictures for swf.

It goes to show you. I would not have pegged your area as one to be prone to much air pollution. I guess none of us are immune. It is still so beautiful where you live, and those are some sky shots.

Thank you Hilda.

Smog is scary. I've seen it only over Los Angeles.

Great set of photos from the water of the wonderful pool to the strange, changeable sky.

That is one thing we don't have here smog. Clean air albeit wet rain air.

I loved the photo of the pool... Just feel like going for a dip right away, since Delhi is battling between summers and monsoon.

I hope something is done about the pollution soon. My sympathies for your lungs.

Growing cities and pollution seem to go together.

Smog or not the views are wonderful. The smog doesn't look nearly as bad as the smog in Southern California during the 1970's now that was smog. :-) Regulations changed, polluting companies cleaned up their acts and now the Los Angeles basin and Orange County air quaility is much better. I hope something like that happens in Manilla.
I can just image how incredible the views would be if the smog was gone.
Very nice post Hilda. :-)

Very nice set of photos, Hilda. Love the pool and the mountains and the view, even if the latter is somewhat polluted.

Your photos remind me of when I lived in LA...lot of smog there!

By the way, I like your new photo!

Have a bon weekend!

What a great job you do in covering Manila, Hilda. The good, the bad, the ugly. I was once assigned to Manila, but never made it. Sent to North Africa instead. So your Manila has become my Manila. Yours is an exceptional photo blog. Beautiful, real and always informative. Thank you so much for a job well done!

Smog seems to be a problem for many large cities. That's one advantage to living in a rural area like we do.
