Keeping things cool

The Humanities cultural gala Magis was staged at the Henry Lee Irwin Theater in the Ateneo de Manila University. Named after the American Jesuit priest from Connecticut who first came to Manila in 1921, the theater sits 1,100 people. I wandered behind it during the intermission and saw the compressors of the airconditioning system that keeps the place cool. There were four of these huge structures and the noise they created was tremendous.

I guess noise pollution is the price we pay for keeping a cool head...

Ha, something only a blogger would do!

And to think, Hilda, the people used to keep cool by waving a fan in front of their face. How neat is that.

The Buckeye is also a tree and the fruit is like the colored spots on the butterfly and the fruit is very smooth. Some people carry them and rub them between their fingers. They are also poisonous.

Thanks for your visit. Now, sometime in the future, take a look at my photography on my canon blog.

Sometimes I try to imagine what it must have been like in places like this and office buildings before airconditioning was invented. "Honey I'm going to the sauna/work"

This picture helps me to appriciate the what it takes to keep us comfortable.

Combine a blogger with a camera and the most intriguing pictures result. Thanks for an interesting post and the reminder of what it takes to keep us cool.

They are big and noisy, but we wouldn't want to live without them! Not in the Philippines and not in Florida!

Boy Hilda you get to all the cool places don't you? Even though they're ugly and noisy they are a necessary evil.

Considering you are in the tropics, I am surprised there are only four. Keep cool, Hilda : )
