Spanish carriage for a Spanish city

THEME DAY: PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION • The kalesa is a horse-drawn carriage introduced to the Philippines by the Spaniards in the 18th century. It is still used as public transportation in certain parts of Manila, especially in the district of Binondo, but fancier ones like this—more properly called a carruaje—are used mostly for sightseeing in the old walled city of Intramuros. This man was waiting for tourists at the nearby Rizal Park.

Great form of transport.

This is a unique post for the theme. Well done.

If you check my post later today (it does not get posted for another 8 hours), you will see a similarity of sorts in our approach to the theme. Yours, with an appropriately Spanish theme, and mine with a perspective that is distinctly Costa Rican.

What a great way to see Intramuros.

Next time I take visitors to Intramuros, I'm going to ride one of these.

So much better than cars! We should learn again to live at the pace of a carruaje.

Horse and carriage rides are always a fun way to see the city. Nice choice for the theme day. I've seen lots of buses and trains so far, but this is my first horse!

This has to be one of the most beautiful subjects for today's theme, Hilda. A beautiful horse and carriage.
