Bored
Can you imagine doing this for a living day-in and day-out? Very few pay parking buildings and lots in Metro Manila have those automatic ticket machines where you drive up to the machine, push a button, a ticket comes out and the boom goes up. Here, an attendant takes down your license plate number, hands you your ticket and pushes the button to lift the boom. At the exit, you hand your ticket and payment to another attendant in another booth. This lady is actually lucky because her little booth is enclosed and has an air-conditioner. Most do not have the luxury of the a/c and are completely exposed to the fumes of all the cars coming in and out.

ReplyDeleteit must be rather exasperating as job, if on top of that it has the pollution of cars, she must be happy when the end of the day arrives
There is probably lots of time to read.
ReplyDelete....or time to play Solitaire, crossword puzzles and so on....I have often wondered how folks endure such jobs. It would be difficult.
ReplyDeleteWell, it's an honest job and I guess someone has to do it. Better that than standing up all day...or digging a ditch under the hot sun! I often reflect on how lucky I am to have a job that I enjoy!

ReplyDeleteOk, someone has to do it, but being inside an underground cage 8 hours a day breathing the most polluted air... well, it must not be easy!

ReplyDeleteYeah, it must be tough. But as like they say, there are activities to fill the time. (But think: claustrophobia) Thank goodness it has a/c.

Oh my Hilda, This post really made me think of it. I really feel insensitive for not thinking of these people befor eyour post. Now I realized how hard it is to be a ticketing assistant especially if your enclosed in such small space. Thanks so much for this post!
