Chinese restaurants are very common in Metro Manila. One of the things I love most about them are these dim sum carts. A server goes around pushing a cart full of little bamboo steamers with different kinds of dim sum in them, you point to what you want, he puts it on your table, and marks the dim sum sheet on your table with what you got. I can have an entire meal with just dim sum—except for the chicken feet. Do you see it?

i love dim sum! but i avoid some of the things too... are the chicken feet the yellow things?
ReplyDeleteYummy! I could have some right now! (No chicken feet for me, either ... though I appreciate using the whole animal and not wasting anything.)
ReplyDeleteI love your food pictures, Hilda!
Great picture! Everything looks delicious and lovely displayed.
ReplyDeleteI'll have one of everything - even the chicken feet, I'm that hungry!
ReplyDeleteI like all the different shapes & sizes in your photo.
Dim Sum carts are my favourite. They're like Tapas - a taste of lots of yummy things - with the emphasis on LOTS. My way of eating!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a good idea. I like the thought of the food being wheeled out for you to choose. Although I'd pass on chicken feet too!
ReplyDeleteI liked the sparkly photo the other day. Very nice. Can't beat a bit of bling!
I like this style.
ReplyDeletelooks delicious.
And I think those are healthy.
I love dim sum. I first tried them in Soho, London, where there are lots of Chinese restaurants. We recently went to a new Chinese supermarket in York and discovered you can get packs of frozen dim sum in there - lovely to have at home, but not as special as going out for them made fresh!
ReplyDeletemakes me hungry, Even the feet! yeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwww!
ReplyDeleteOh my Hilda. I read your post and laughed because, during World War II, we raised our chickens for the eggs and sometimes would eat old hens who no longer laid eggs. And we ate the whole thing, from head and neck to feet. I ate the necks and still do if I can, and my mother loved the feet. I could never get the foot in my mouth or a toe as the toenails made me gag. LOL
ReplyDeleteHihi, I am also not into chicken feet, or anything 'odd parts' =D But I'll have the shark fin please!!!
ReplyDelete"Louis" is with you - he'll find it easy to pass up the chicken feet. However, Mme la Vache, being Chinese, would take them. That's OK. She can have "Louis's" share, too!
ReplyDeletewow... every thing looks so yummy...
ReplyDeletehahaha, the chicken feet, I know this, I've eaten them, hey, it doesn't taste so terrible as you've imagined, trust me, hahaha, this is funny post, Hilda
