Hug a building

The RCBC Plaza has an awesome location in a triangular piece of land at the corner of Ayala and Gil Puyat Avenues in the Central Business District of Makati City. It has two glass towers for corporate offices: the Yuchengco Tower, named after the family that owns the Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation and the Yuchengco Group of Companies, is 46 levels and Tower 2 has 41 levels. Between them is the 3-level concrete and stone Podium which has a chapel, food court, bar, clinic, gym, museum and theater. I wasn't kidding about the title—I propped my arms on the stone wall of the Podium to take this shot. And it is the one and only shot I got because two security guards came up to me to tell me that it was bawal (not allowed). I don't understand why. I mean, I can understand if people are not allowed to take photos of the interior for security reasons—it's the headquarters of the bank, after all. But an exterior that's so prominent even in an area full of tall buildings? That everyone can see from two major roads? I really don't get it. Anyway, I'm just thankful that they didn't ask me to delete the image from my camera.

I can't understand it either. Stupid, if you ask me. if we have bad intentions do you think we won't use telephoto lenses to get what we want?

It is incredible that we agreed on today's topic. Towers.
I love the perspective with which you have taken the photo. It seems endless.

From that angle the building really does reach into the sky...
I guess the security guards have to look busy!

Hilda you are truly an intrepid reporter! Shame they are so tight with the security. I think only spider man has a hope of breaking into that building!

I'm glad they didn't ask you to delete it either. I like it.

That was the most exciting thing to happen to those guards in a week.

If they get bored enough they'll start to hassle people for looking at the building. With all the sophisticated technology available anyone could take as many pictures as they wanted and no one would know.

You got a good shot in spite of them Hilda.

Hi Hilda, really impressive building! Maybe if you had told them you were going to open a bank account they'd had been nicer to you! Ciao. Antonella

it's a big surprise because, jst last week i took the same shot of that tower at the same angle but on a different side. Great coincidence! I somehow knw why they dont allow photos being taken of buildings. It all started when the Sept11 attack happened. It led some countries to ban taking photos of buildings. Even in Fort they prohibit photoshoots already and even ordinary shots of the buildings but not when you are on establishments. But i stl believe that it shouldnt be that way because these are icons that helps us appreciate our country.

Cool picture, Hilda!
I've been told I can't photograph the outside of several buildings: read FBI,IRS,Port Authority. I'm not sure how we're supposed to know when these buildings are off limits without signs but I just keep snapping away and figure they'll tell me when I'm not supposed to.
