We pass by the
UnionBank Plaza Building in the Ortigas Center of
Pasig City once a month or so especially when we're on our way to one of the
malls in the area. I never took notice of it because its street-level entrance and facade looks like any other building. It was only when we were at the
Ortigas Home Depot several large blocks away that I saw what it really looked like. I love the sapphire blue glass but what is that thing on top?
Visit the Sky Watch Friday home page and tour the skies of our beautiful world.
Great blue building! Have you found out what the top is? It doesn't seem to belong there...
ReplyDeletesuperbe cet immeuble, cela donne de très beau reflet bleu.
ReplyDeletethis magnificent building, it is very beautiful blue.
I love the building, maybe the top is a restaurant and observation deck.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot Hilda - buildings are hard to do, I think.
ReplyDeleteMy vote is air traffic control centre!
wow, that's impressive, love how you caught the simmmering blues. and the Thing On Top? - perhaps that's where the zeppelin docks.
ReplyDeleteIt is a very pretty building. I'm glad the Home Depot helped you see it in a new light! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful shade of blue which happens to be my favorite color!
ReplyDeleteThat is an attractive building.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful building against a beautiful sky. You did a great job in composing this picture. It looks like a helicopter pad at the very top of the building, but I have no idea what is just below it.
ReplyDeleteIt is an impressive building. Hence there is who has the money.
ReplyDeleteImpressive building, but I much prefer Our Lady of the Remedies in yesterday's post. But I'm sure you do too Hilda.
ReplyDeleteNicely captured Hilda.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful building, reminds me of one in Sharjah UAE called the emerald tower, pretty similar.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo! It's one of the most original Skywatch pictures I've seen this week, catching the sky both directly and in reflection.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic building, very futuristic. I expect Spiderman jumping over any minute! Have a great weekend. Ciao. Antonella
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo....love it.
ReplyDeleteGreat building. We don't have a building that high here.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your visit and yes I have a wonderful day today :)
Ita a great colour and looks cool against the sky. Looks like they ran out of glass when they got to the top!
ReplyDeleteBlue, blue, indeed, in this reflection shot. Super SWF image, Hilda!
ReplyDeleteInteresting building - as blue as the sky itself. Will you answer your question for us next week?
ReplyDeleteThat's a spectacular building...
ReplyDeletei too like that building. it's not the usual bar type building. some says it looks like a rocket.
ReplyDeleteIt's a cool building! It makes me miss Ortigas even more
ReplyDeletehi..
ReplyDeletei think it's a helipad and the extended part of the building is its central shaft (where the elevators go)
It is a cool blue image and so tall. If it's two storey's high here we get vertigo.
ReplyDeleteJM, Wren:
ReplyDeleteI really don't know what it is. And uUnless I find someone I know who works there, I might never find out.
Buck, KG:
I love your imaginative guesses! :D
Marc:
I like them both. I appreciate good architecture, whether new or old. But I am partial to stone, wood and iron which mostly appears in older architectural styles.
It's one of my favorite Ortigas Center scrapers. And it's one of its tallest as well, but not for long. I'm not sure whether somebody actually told me the top was designed to resemble the top of a lighthouse or that somebody merely observed the similarity.
ReplyDeleteStunning reflactions of the sky in all those window, and stunning architectural photo as well.
ReplyDeleteThat is an amazing sight, Miss Hilda. You nailed this one, yes ma'am.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great with this blue reflection:)
ReplyDeleteThat's an amazing building. I'm guessing the top bit is a helipad, for helicopters to land.
ReplyDeletemy thought is a helipad too
ReplyDeleteJackie, Gerald:
ReplyDeleteYes, the top is a helipad but it's the part just below it — before the blue glass starts — that I'm curious about. It looks like it's two or three levels in there.
