Candle, shrimp or lollipop

I'm such a doofus when it comes to plants that I always have to ask for help in identifying flowers in my own garden. Thanks to Elaine (who ended her Willits Daily Photo after a wonderful year but who posts in her Willits Photo Overflow every now and then, and continues to moderate the Monthly Theme Days forum for CDP bloggers), I now know that this is Pachystachys lutea. Its common names are Golden Candle, Golden Shrimp and Lollipop. Which name do you think suits it best?

Pachystachys lutea
I now have names for four of the twelve flowers I originally posted in Magical blooms last August. But I've just discovered four new ones blooming in our garden and needless to say, I don't have names for any of them. If you have the time, may I please ask for your help again? They're in The blessings of Easter. Many thanks!

They're beautiful by any name!
I think the candle suits it best.

je suis d'accord avec 'D', le nom de bougie leur va très bien, et elles sont très belles.

I agree with 'D', the name of the candle is going very well and are very beautiful.

I'm with you about names of flowers, but these are beautiful. I love the yellow and white combination here.

Hello dear Hilda!
I know it here like Golden Candle! But I guess Lollipop is cute as well!
Thanks for teaching us the correct name!
Wonderful picture!
You are so lucky to have a wonderful garden with different and fantastic flowers!

Excellent image, I like the 'candle' idea. Sorry, I am absolutely uncapable to identify any flower: I usually pester my mother, colleagues and friends to check blooms and flowers.

Flowers are easier than birds to identify. The flowers sit still while you check in the book looking for the flower. Birds fly away. It takes longer to identify the birds, I think. But there are so many flowers that I have more than one book which is filled with photos.

I also have books filled with descriptions and photos and drawings of weeds.

Check out Gobsmacks.blogspot.com if you have time.

What was that again, a Psychological Looney? Oh, no, that's what I've got in my garden.

See, I don't know any more than you do.

Doesn't mean we can't enjoy them!

Right?

Nice shot, Hilda, and I hope you're having a great day!

I like golden candle myself, but they are all wonderful names! I have a shrimp plant in my yard, but the blooms are more of a peachy pink color.

For some reason I think of kumsquats. Don't know why.

Thanks for visiting Norwich Daily Photo and leaving your comment. Come back tomorrow!

Hi Hilda, Nice flowers. They remind me of candles so there you go.

You are so sweet, Hilda! I only know the plants I know, usually just from personal experience and reading garden planting books, and remembering what some botanist friends have explained (sometimes!). I wish I could be more helpful.

Lovely all, Hilda. I think the candle is a good label. Your fourth flower looks like some type of bromeliad. :)

we used to have that in our backyard.
