This hopeful image of the resurrected Christ greets visitors and mourners at the entrance of the crypt of Our Lady of Mount Carmel church in New Manila, Quezon City. The odd lighting pattern comes from the fact that the columbarium is in the basement of the church and fluorescent tubes had to be installed behind the panels. Nevertheless, I think that the stained glass is beautiful.
i actually thought it's a defect in your camera because i had a similar problem with my previous camera. good that you mentioned that it's the fluorescent lamp that's defective.
ReplyDeleteI love stained glass, and this is especially nice.
ReplyDeleteRe your comment on Ocala DP - they do have quesadillas! In fact, that's exactly what I ordered and they were yummy!
That does give it an interesting effect. Beautiful stained glass.
ReplyDeleteIt IS a splendid window (despite the lighting), like a cloud of glory.
ReplyDeleteColumbarium you say? I wonder if that term could be used for what we call in Hebrew kochim. Kochim is often not translated when it appears in non-Hebrew articles, and I thought there was no equivalent.
I agree, it is very beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWith this effect is it more beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI have never been to Mt. Carmel church I can only see it from LRT. But the image resembles from the one I've seen in Caleruega Church, if you're familiar with it, almost the same.
ReplyDeleteA few years ago we completed a series of stained glass widows for a church that required artificial light. It took a few tries before we were able to hid the light source.
ReplyDeleteThis is still a beautiful stained glass window.
It's a heavenly work of stained glass art! Too bad about the fluorescent light bulbs!
ReplyDeleteStained glass is one of my weaknesses. I love it. Great photo!
ReplyDeleteIt is absolutely gorgeous and the shadows behind it form other crosses.
ReplyDeleteHave a peaceful day, Hilda.
Oh it IS beautiful! And quite detailed too. I love the bright colors behind Jesus :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful stained-glass image. I wonder if it is a coincidence that the shadows appear to form a faint shadow behind Christ?
ReplyDeleteIt is very pretty and I am glad you captured and shared it.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely contemporary piece. I bet the lighting pattern is more noticeable in photos than when viewing it live (?). The construction is very interesting with the linear light burst surrounding Christ above and the curved cloudscape below. I would love to see this up close (when I was in college I had a part time job with a leaded glass window and lamp shade manufacturer, so art glass really interests me).
ReplyDeleteSuper photo, Hilda.

It is beautiful, but you are right: the light feels a bit disruptive with this pattern. It's a pity...
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, the light behind provides some kind of movement, life to it. Brilliant photography.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful start into the new week for you all.

This is certainly an appropriate choice of an image to post for the Second Sunday of Easter.
ReplyDeleteA great artist who did this stained glass window!
