Spirals

Since we're already at Sofitel Philippine Plaza, let's take a peek at Spiral, the hotel's flagship restaurant. It is one of the most popular buffet restaurants in Metro Manila, with open cooking stations and the widest array of multi-cuisine dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. This is the lovely spiral staircase that leads from the lobby to the restaurant, and its unusual and very striking spiral sculpture.

The place looks a bit overdone, but really awesome. The sculpture is beautiful, original and perfect for the place.

Tres elegante! Reminds me of the staircase leading down to the restaurant at the Hilton in Paris...if it has the same great food you are really fortunate!

Delicate artwork on the staircase, accented by the sculpture. I would explore the different food stations!

They look giant and sharp /thankfully at a place where nobody can poke themselves/

I love to see really great public art. The buffet sounds delicious and the atmosphere really special. Thanks for the link to Ubersee. I knew the name was German but couldn't think of it.

I can't decide if I love it or hate it. The staircase is absolutely wonderful esp. the baluster, but IMHO, this sculpture would fit better in some other place. My eyes keep going away from it towards the staircase...

That is one grand staircase. Such detailed filagree work on the sides. A very interesting sculpoture in the middle too. I wonder how many steps it has.
