Land under construction

THEME DAY: UNDER CONSTRUCTION • The Cultural Center of the Philippines (including Sofitel Manila and Harbour Square which are in the same complex), SM Mall of Asia (currently the 4th largest mall in the world), and many of the luxury residential condominium buildings in Pasay City with fantastic views of Manila Bay and its gorgeous sunsets, all stand on land reclaimed from the sea. And it looks as if the sea is still trying to get some of it back.

Love your perspective.

Re your comments about the CN Tower and the glass floor. Yes, I was able to stand on it after convincing myself that it was safe and I would not fall.

Now you have me wondering how they reclaimed the land.

there are numerous stories on how the soil would shift during the construction of MOA considering that its a reclamation area..

@Oakland Daily Photo, reclamation of the Manila bay area I think was done during the time for former president Marcos. it was one of her wife's (Imeldific) pet project.. They hauled in tons of soild and rock and dumped them into the seabed...

Amazing angle in this picture!
The nature there is adorable, I hope the constructions don't damage it!
Hugs and a happy weekend
( we are going out for some days, see you next week!)

Tokyo has a lot of land reclaimed from the sea, too. This looks like a big project! Great angle from above the area, Hilda :D

That gives us something to think about!

Why do I feel the sea will eventually win?

It's scary to think that nature would eventually gets its way and take back what is rightfully hers.

I just hope none of those buildings leak and that they don't start to sink....

I'm always very worried with pollution, on those reclaimed from the sea things. Please be careful, guys. Construction, not destruction

This is a great shot. My sister was born on Clark Air Force base so I was excited to see your site on the daily photo today and I'll be back to check it out!

Constructing the very land on which you stand, that's a novel idea for the theme today.
