In the trenches

The Law School and Graduate School of Business of the Ateneo de Manila University are located in Rockwell Center in Makati City. Though other cities have been competing aggressively during the past decade to get companies to relocate their headquarters by offering big tax breaks, Makati is still considered the premiere financial and commercial center of Metro Manila. Hence the location of the two schools, both of which offer continuing education courses for professionals. Its little palm-shaded brick building provides a visual respite from the glass towers which surround it.

  1. With the little we're able to see of them, these appear to be nice buildings for the school. No doubt they increase the school's prestige with the nearby business community.

  3. Rockwell has become my comfort mall and I pass by Ateneo, not paying much attention to it, almost every week. It stands prestigious looking amidst the shopping and residential complex.

You have an amazing blog. Manila looks incredibly pretty through your eyes. :-) I like it to, despite its many flaws.

  5. Hi Hilda, thanks for leaving a comment. About the library of University of Kentucky, it just blow me away. As in five stories high and it's just very beautiful inside. Nung andoon na ako sa loob halos mabali ang leeg ko sa kakatingin hangang ceiling. And ceiling is glass kitang kita ang blue sky ^)^. Nakanganga na ako sabay sabi where do I begin? lol!! I asked the person (information in-charge) "where is your nancy drew?" hahahaha!! Walang naisip na iba ^)^.

  7. Most, if not all of the buildings you show us have one thing in common. Gorgeous landscaping.

  11. I love all those palm trees, Hilda. It looks so like "vacation" to me. :)

The palms soften the the hard lines of city life. make tall buildings look more attractive.

  14. This school doesn't look all that "little," but perhaps in relation to what it's up against ...

Beautiful building and those palm trees are lucious!

  15. Beautiful scenery. I love those palm trees, they are so ornamental. I've never seen them in real life but in pictures. The school building looks very big related to the people on the sidewalk.
    Have a nice Sunday.
