Ubiquitous

I don't think Metro Manila has a residential-commercial complex that doesn't have a mall, and Rockwell Center is no exception. The entire complex centers around Power Plant, seen here through the stairwell window of the Ateneo Professional Schools.

This is the narrow south end of the mall, whose ground level is occupied by Zara, a Spanish clothing chain store. Power Plant is named such because the 15-hectare Rockwell Center used to be the site of a thermal power plant, which closed in 1994.

The entrance of Power Plant across the street from Nestlé and PHINMA is flanked by cafés and restaurants, as is its counterpart on the other side of the mall.

    This chain has branches back home in Germany and here in Athens, Greece as well.
    Seems indeed that there are many shopping abilities in your part of the world. Amazed by the places being so clean, what a large contrast to this city!

    My criteria for a good mall - good coffee shop with yummy treats and a place for husbands to sit down comfortably and wait . . . .

    The Power Plant Mall looks like a great mall. I'm not a big fan of malls, but you have to go where the stores are if you want to shop.

    I'd say you have a plethora of malls in Manila! And all of them look very nice.

    I'm afraid I'll stay out of the Power Plant, though, as I have lots of will power, but very little "won't" power!

    Zara must be world-wide. They have stores here in the San Francisco Bay Area, too.

    Your malls seem to be thriving. Even before the current economic downturn, malls were in a decline in the U.S.

    I've never been to Rockwell Center, and the Power Plant looks interesting to see and to visit. How I wish I have time to visit those malls when I visit Manila this year. Thanks for sharing.

    I love how Manila looks through your eyes! Our shopping malls are all on the outskirts of town, away from the residential areas.

    That's an unusual name for a mall but it does seem to fit! I like the palm trees near the entrance.

    Malls make sense in extreme weather. It also makes good sense if it is a residential - retail mixture. Community and convenience work well together.

    It looks like a nice mall. Most metropolitan cities in the US have malls too.

    Bangor, with a population of about 30,000 only, has a huge mall with Macy's as the main store. There are other smaller stores in the same complex.
