THEME DAY: PASSAGEWAY • Alright, I'm cheating again here because we've left Metro Manila. We're on the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway, better known as
SCTEx, although where exactly, I have no idea. The SCTex goes through three provinces north of Manila:
Pampanga,
Bataan and
Tarlac. Since it opened in 2008, day trips from Manila to the
Subic Bay Freeport Zone, which is located in the province of
Zambales, have become easier; it is 110 kilometers away from Manila but the trip now only takes an hour and forty five minutes compared to three hours before the road was constructed. Last year, I took a trip to
Subic Bay with my sister and nieces. This time, my girlfriends and I went a bit farther. Come back tomorrow to see where we spent last Thursday.
From the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary:
Passage a: a road, path, channel, or course by which something passes
b: a corridor or lobby giving access to the different rooms or parts of a building or apartment.

Great shot, almost feels like it's moving.
One does get the sense, as Paula suggested, of movement. Looks to be a grand highway. And not all that crowded!
Beautiful sky!
Well it is the passage to somewhere - lovely photo makes you wonder what is at the end of the road.
Cheers.

Who would think that Philippines is a developing country with this photo? o",) SCTEx makes me proud of my 'home', once again!
The terrain is a lot flatter than I imagined. I just love the feeling of the open expanse of space you get = a true escape from busy Manila!
It's great.
Sydney - City and Suburbs
There you go.....giving us a teaser again. I'll be back tomorrow.
une belle invitation au voyage, superbe photo, avec un ciel magnifique
Beautiful Shot !!
I'll bet it's nice to have a quicker way to get to interesting places outside the city.
Interesting, Hilda, that you delved into the dictionary to find out exactly what a passageway was! I did exactly the same, and also came to the conclusion that this was a very broad category.
I like the simplicity of the passageway that you have chosen which emphasises the wide blue yonder.
Lovely choice.
Excellent shot. It is also beautiful. MB
Nothing like the feel of the open road and big blue sky when you're out for a getaway. And you've certainly captured that sense of free passage here, Hilda!
More passage than this! A perfect Theme Day image. I hope you have a nice trip and will be back soon with plenty of pictures for us!
Home always have the most beautiful skies....I'm missing out a lot! :(
Beautiful image, that sky is amazing!
Great sky. We could use more roads like this in Costa Rica.
Beautiful sky. I wasn't thinking of a passageway as a road, but of course it is! Well done.
There is nothing wrong with cheating from time to time.
Hi Hilda - here's a link re: cracker houses in Florida:

Me again - re: your comment on The Villages...that's just what we often do...find a place to sit and watch the water, the birds, the people and the sun go down!
such a nice open road with blue sky and clouds and greenery. nice passage for today
I feel like I am right there on the highway with you Hilda. It reminds me of our interstate highways here. I can see some mountains in the distance!
Hi Hilds, woahhh! i think you're driving here to have a good time and not to get on time ... LOL....
Good Night!
OK! We'll check back to see where the road took you. ;-)
Thanks for that text that accompanies this highway shot. It add a lot.
It looks like a drive into a heavenly sky!
Excellent! Good memories from Subic Bay.
Passage to freedom, air and good weather!
beautiful composition.. It must be fun to ride with my bike and enjoy the scene..
The passage to the whole wide world, there to be grasped. Great!
Nice "cheating" passageway but since it's such a lovely blue sky background, we'll let you get away with it! Ha!
Hola Hilda,
Un cielo muy bonito con unas nubes de película.
Abrazos
What a joy to be able to see that far.
A wonderful Wednesday for you all.
Alright, since you've provided the "definition", I'll accept this as a passageway ... from hither to yon -:)
Love your interpretation here! Glad you can get to Subic quicker.
we won't scold you because this is a great shot for the theme!

Beautiful photo, no matter where it is! And thank you for the definition of Passage. I couldn't really figure out if it meant a path or hallway...but I guess it's both :)
hope you enjoy your trip!
subic bay is where the cheap flights go to right? :-)
This is a stunning image Hilda. It has all the right qualities of a great photo.
Keropok Man:
That would be Clark airfield in Pampanga. Closer to Manila than Subic. :)
I can just see you with your feet on the dash, relaxing, letting the world go by.
