Men in black

I just had to ask the bomb squad from yesterday's post if I could take their picture. Only these two men agreed. One completely turned his back on me and another ignored me, and they're the ones off to the side of the picture (I didn't want to crop them out). A fifth came up beside me and said that his 'sweetheart' might not like it. I only took one shot because I didn't want to impose too much. The older man asked me what newspaper I was working for. Ah! Now that explains why the others were camera shy. I told him that it was only for me, and he gave me a huge grin—of relief, I think. Among all the policemen and soldiers I've seen in Metro Manila, I like the bomb squad's uniform best.

Kudos for your boldness. These guys look like they mean business, but they also look friendly.

I get that sometimes-- being mistaken as a journalist or something.

Okay, I reread your previous post and I saw that you wrote that someone actually threw a bomb? Really? Did it explode? I thought there was only a threat.

The uniforms make them look a little imposing, like really tough guys. And I guess it's a tough job.

pas facile de prendre en photos des policiers (ou pompiers). En France, normalement c'est interdit, il faut demander une autorisation écrite. tu as fait un beau portrait, j'espère que tu pourras leur donner.

This is such a great shot of these officers. I can't believe you had the composure to take the picture. Was there really a bomb?

Everything you describe tells me they wanted you to think they took your attention as flirting! Ah, well, you made their day especially when you just wanted the photos "for yourself" - wink, wink! LOL!

It sounds like no one was hurt, so that's good.

I'm wondering why it seems all bomb squad workers are male? What's that all about?
