Multipurpose space
The one-level basement of the independent supermarket that my husband and I frequent serves as basement parking, storage for beer bottle crates and flattened product cartons, and the locker room of the employees. It's strange that not many people park there, though the lot in front of the supermarket is always full. We always go straight to the basement because it might suddenly rain, and getting groceries in the car while it's raining can be very difficult. Maybe people just don't like climbing stairs. That, and the fact that the ramp is quite narrow and not very SUV-friendly.

People might not think it's really for parking, since it's used for so many other things. I worked at a business that did this to their small parking garage. I stopped using the garage when I noticed a man was living amongst all the stuff.
Well, now the secret is out! You might have to look a little bit longer for a parking space next time you do your shopping. ;)
Urban space is at a premium nowadays..
Parking is a Pain - with a capital "P". You are so lucky not to have to fight over a space. Hope no one else in your area reads your post!!!!
In my city, parking is art! You have to use your intuition to find a right way to have a nice spot.
