Broccoli trees

Walking around the perimeter of Timberland Sports and Nature Club (see yesterday's post), an office mate pointed out these trees on the slope of the next hill. Since it is the middle of summer in the Philippines, most of our grasses and plants are brown, pale, thin, dry or downright bald, so these trees are striking for their lush, bright green leaves. They were too far to identify with any certainty, but another office mate said that they looked like broccoli and thus were they christened.

trees that look like broccoli from afar

Kidding aside, my guess is that they're mango trees.

Nah...I'm sure they are Philippine Broccoli trees! If not, they should be. Rather striking on that otherwise dull-brown hillside!

Whatever they are, they certainly stand out in the landscape.

Knock. Knock. Frank at Tampa Daily visiting the delicious world of Manila.

They are most defintely HUGE broccoli plants just waiting for the hungry masses.

Love your blog and always will.

Miss you Hilda!!

Tampa is gorgeous but I'm never here anymore. The hours are beyond long. Two hours of commute each day and 50+ hours at the office...I miss my blog world.

What a promissing colour that is. Being in Germany for a few days allowed to "enjoy" rain, yet back in Athens, it did not rain for nearly two months.
Please have a wonderful Tuesday.

Ah yes, my daughter calls broccoli "trees."

I wouldn't recognize a mango tree, but I think broccoli tree is entirely appropriate.

How perfect Hilda. You gave us all a great chuckle today. Maybe you could photoshop some melted cheese poured over the top. ;-)

Now that you've said "broccoli", I can't see anything else when I look at the picture!

My son always calls brocolli as little trees! haha, true too. Good to see them thriving despite the weather...but I think it rained today right?

Mango, broccoli--either way the trees sound exotic. :)

We in Israel are now going into the brown season, so I know how you felt to see this lush green.
